Elche vs Real Madrid: La Liga Match Preview
Elche will be hoping to produce a major upset when they welcome Real Madrid to the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero, with the hosts desperate to end a difficult opening period to the new La Liga season.
The campaign has been challenging for Elche, particularly following a turbulent summer that saw head coach Eder Sarabia leave his position along with several important members of the squad, including David Affengruber and Aleix Febas.

Anselmi would love nothing more than to end the club's long wait for a victory over Real Madrid. Elche have not beaten Los Blancos in 48 years, although last season's 2-2 draw between the teams provides the hosts with some encouragement.
Real Madrid Target Another Away Victory
Real Madrid enter the fixture in much better shape and will be looking to maintain pressure on league leaders Barcelona.
Jose Mourinho's side have won four of their opening five La Liga matches, leaving them three points behind their rivals at the top of the table.

Madrid quickly recovered in Europe, defeating Inter Milan 2-1 in the Champions League. The result provided an encouraging start to their attempt to win a record-extending 16th European title.
They then returned to domestic action in impressive fashion, defeating Rayo Vallecano 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mbappe scored twice, while Alvaro Carreras and Jude Bellingham also found the net. The result continued Madrid's remarkable scoring record at home, with the club having scored four goals in each of their first three home league fixtures.
Their away performances have been less prolific, with just two goals scored across their opening two league trips.
Nevertheless, facing an Elche defence that has already conceded 13 times could provide Madrid's attacking players with plenty of opportunities.
Real Madrid have also enjoyed a strong record at the Martínez Valero. Although their most recent visit ended in a 2-2 draw, Madrid have won six of their last eight away meetings with Elche since suffering a 3-1 defeat there in March 1978.

Elche are still waiting for winger Yago Santiago to complete his recovery from a knee procedure. He is unlikely to return before the upcoming international break.
Defender Kevin Lomonaco could make his first matchday squad appearance since joining the club from Independiente on transfer deadline day.
Thomas Lemar is another player who could be considered for a starting role. The former Atletico Madrid midfielder has appeared as a substitute in each of Elche's last two matches and could be given more minutes against Madrid.
