Inter Miami vs CF Montreal: Match Preview and Team News
Inter Miami will be looking to end their recent poor run when they host CF Montreal in their upcoming MLS fixture.
Despite a difficult spell of results, the Herons remain in a strong position in the Eastern Conference. They currently sit second in the standings, although they are 10 points behind league leaders Nashville. They are also third in the Supporters' Shield rankings.
Lionel Messi and his teammates head into the match looking to respond after suffering a 2-1 defeat against Toronto last week. That result extended their winless run to five matches in all competitions, with four defeats during that period.
Inter Miami can take some confidence from their recent meetings with Montreal, however, as they have remained unbeaten in their last four encounters with the Canadian side.
Montreal struggling for consistency
CF Montreal have also experienced plenty of difficulties this season, with the club changing coaches during the campaign.
Philippe Eullaffroy took over from Marco Donadel and has a strong connection with the club, having previously worked as the academy's founding director. He also has experience as Head of Methodology and Performance at Olympique Lyon.
However, his spell in charge has produced mixed results. After taking control of 17 matches over four months, Montreal have won only seven of those games.
Their MLS record has been particularly concerning, with just five victories from 21 matches. That gives them a win percentage of only 24%.
Montreal's away record provides another concern ahead of their trip to Miami. They have managed just two victories in 10 away matches this season, while their last win against Inter Miami came back in 2024.
Team News
Inter Miami will be without two important players for the fixture, with Mateo Silvetti and Tadeo Allende unavailable.
Santi Morales and Micael are also dealing with injuries and will miss the match. There is some positive news for the hosts, though, as Yannick Bright has completed his suspension and is available for selection.
Montreal have a longer injury list. Frankie Amaya, Wiki Carmona, Bode Hidalgo, Efrain Morales and Hennadii Synchuk are all unavailable because of injuries.
Brayan Ceballos will also miss the trip to Miami after receiving a suspension for accumulating too many yellow cards.
Match Outlook
Both teams enter the contest needing a positive result, but Inter Miami have the stronger position in the Eastern Conference and will have home advantage on their side.
Montreal's struggles on the road could make the task even more difficult for the visitors, while Miami will be determined to put an end to their recent winless streak.
With Messi leading the hosts and Inter Miami unbeaten in their last four meetings with Montreal, the Herons will be expected to approach the game with confidence as they look to return to winning ways.
