Lille vs Paris Saint-Germain — Match Preview
Lille made an encouraging start to the new Ligue 1 campaign under Davide Ancelotti, with their opening-day victory putting them among the five teams to begin the season with three points.
The hosts will now look to maintain their impressive record in August home openers. Lille have won their last four Ligue 1 home openers, conceding just once across those matches. They have also avoided defeat in their last five top-flight home games played in August, with their most recent loss coming against Paris Saint-Germain in a heavy 7-1 defeat in 2022.
However, Lille's recent form at Stade Pierre-Mauroy offers PSG some hope. Les Nordistes have failed to win their last three Ligue 1 matches at home, scoring only once during that run.
Ancelotti's side could make it two wins from their opening two league matches for only the second time this decade, having previously achieved the feat at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.
PSG, meanwhile, were held to a draw in their opening Ligue 1 fixture after falling behind, but Luis Enrique's side showed character to fight back and secure a point. It was their first league draw of the year after conceding the opening goal.
Another failure to win would see PSG equal their longest winless run in Ligue 1 from last season, while they would also drop points in their opening two league matches for the first time since the 2023-24 campaign.
Defensively, PSG have looked solid in the second half of matches this season, having yet to concede a second-half goal across all competitions. However, they have scored only once before half time so far.
The visitors also have an excellent recent record against Lille. PSG are unbeaten in their last 10 competitive meetings with Les Dogues and have scored at least three goals in six of those encounters.

Lille will be without Hamza Igamane, who remains sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury. Basar Onal made his Ligue 1 debut on the opening matchday and could feature again.
Olivier Giroud and Tiago Santos both found the net in the first half of Lille's opening victory, while goalkeeper Berke Ozer impressed with four saves to preserve a clean sheet.
PSG have a suspension to deal with, as Nuno Mendes will miss the match following his red card in the Trophee des Champions. Ousmane Dembele is also expected to be unavailable because of injury.
Ferran Torres will be one of the players to watch after making an immediate impact for PSG. The forward scored twice to rescue a point for his side on Sunday, becoming the first PSG player since Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2012 to score a brace on his competitive debut for the club.
