PSG vs Manchester United Match Preview
Paris Saint-Germain’s preparations for the 2026-27 season began with a surprising 3-0 defeat to Mallorca on Wednesday. The European champions were missing a number of key players due to the 2026 World Cup, and the Spanish side took full advantage to hand Luis Enrique’s team a disappointing start to pre-season.
There is better news for PSG ahead of this fixture, with Vitinha, Joao Neves, Nuno Mendes and Marquinhos now back in the fold. Their returns significantly strengthen the French champions, and more World Cup stars are expected to rejoin the squad in the coming days.
This will be PSG’s final friendly of the summer, with the club facing Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup on August 12 before taking on Lens in the French Super Cup on August 16. Their Ligue 1 campaign then begins against Rennes on August 23, as Enrique looks to build a side capable of challenging for a third consecutive Champions League title.
The Parisians have been relatively quiet in the transfer market so far, making only one first-team addition by signing highly rated teenage goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni from AC Milan. Meanwhile, Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani and Lee Kang-in are among the players who have departed the club.
Manchester United arrive in much better form. The Red Devils are coming off a 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Snapdragon Cup, recovering from a goal down with Bryan Mbeumo scoring twice in another encouraging team performance.
Michael Carrick’s side began pre-season with a 1-0 defeat to Wrexham, but they have responded impressively by thrashing Rosenborg 5-0 and then beating Atletico, putting together a two-match winning streak.
United still have three more friendlies to play after this one, with Leeds United and AC Milan among their upcoming opponents before they open the 2026-27 Premier League season against Hull City on August 22.
The club has strengthened the squad with the arrivals of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow, and further signings are expected before the transfer window closes. After finishing third in the Premier League last season and returning to the Champions League, United are aiming to compete strongly on multiple fronts.

Team News
PSG did have Khvicha Kvaratskhelia available against Mallorca, as Georgia did not qualify for the 2026 World Cup, but many of the club’s biggest names were absent.
Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembele, Fabian Ruiz, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Lucas Hernandez, Bradley Barcola, Joao Neves, Desire Doue and Warren Zaire-Emery all missed the opening friendly.
For this match, Vitinha, Mendes, Neves and Marquinhos are back and could feature, but Dembele, Ruiz, Hernandez, Barcola, Doue and Zaire-Emery remain unavailable.
Manchester United are still without Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford, who are continuing their post-World Cup recovery period.
Benjamin Sesko remains a major doubt because of the shin injury that ruled him out at the end of last season.
There is positive news for Carrick, with Senne Lammens, Youri Tielemans, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Matheus Cunha and Noussair Mazraoui all back in training and expected to be included in the squad.
Lammens, Tielemans, Fernandes and Cunha could all return to the starting XI, while Bryan Mbeumo is likely to continue as the central attacking option after his brace against Atletico.
Teenage prospect JJ Gabriel made his senior debut from the bench against Diego Simeone’s side, and the 15-year-old will be hoping for another opportunity in this high-profile friendly.
