Match Preview

Al-Nassr have made an impressive start to the Saudi Pro League campaign, winning four of their opening five matches to collect 12 points and move into second place. Despite their strong early form, they will be determined to respond after suffering their first defeat of the season in their previous league outing.

Their four-match winning streak was ended by Al-Ittihad, who secured a 2-1 victory. George Ilenikhena scored twice inside the opening 25 minutes, while Angelo Gabriel pulled one back for Al-Nassr before the interval. However, the Riyadh-based side could not find a second goal after the break.

The defeat was a rare setback for Al-Nassr, who have otherwise looked convincing under new manager Ange Postecoglou. They have scored 13 goals and conceded just five across their first five league games, highlighting their attacking quality and defensive strength.

Home form has also been a major positive. Al-Nassr have won both of their league matches at Al-Awwal Park this season and will see Wednesday's fixture as an ideal opportunity to return to winning ways.

Abha, meanwhile, have endured a difficult return to the Saudi top flight following their promotion from the Saudi First Division last season. They have failed to win any of their first five matches, recording one draw and four defeats.

Their struggles have been evident at both ends of the pitch, with only four goals scored and 11 conceded. Abha's latest match ended in a 1-0 home defeat against Al-Ettifaq, with Donovan Leon's own goal deciding the contest in the 80th minute.

That result represented another frustrating evening for Damir Buric's side, who have now lost four of their five league matches. They have also struggled on the road, losing both of their away fixtures so far this season.

The recent head-to-head record offers little encouragement for Abha either. Al-Nassr have won six of the last seven meetings between the clubs, with the other encounter ending in a draw. The Riyadh side have also scored at least twice in each of those seven matches.

On paper, Al-Nassr enter the contest as overwhelming favourites. Their attacking strength, home record and superior league form could make this a particularly challenging assignment for an Abha side still searching for its first victory of the campaign.
Team News

Al-Nassr could be without Kingsley Coman after the winger was forced off with a hamstring problem during the defeat to Al-Ittihad. The extent of the injury remains unclear, but he is considered a doubt for Wednesday's match.

Sultan Al-Ghannam is also unavailable after suffering a cruciate ligament injury, leaving Postecoglou without another option for the foreseeable future.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored twice in four league appearances this season and is expected to lead the attack again. Joao Felix could partner him in the forward line, while Sadio Mane is likely to retain his position on the flank.

Abdulelah Al-Amri and Mohamed Simakan are expected to continue in central defence, with Angelo Gabriel and Samu Costa also likely to keep their places in midfield.

For Abha, Abdulkarim Darisi remains sidelined with a medial ligament knee injury. The Al-Hilal loanee is not expected to return until next month.

Donovan Leon should continue between the posts, while Jurien Gaari and Abdulbasit Hindi are likely to form part of the defensive unit.

Nabil Fekir and Firas Al-Ghamdi are expected to feature in midfield, with Alimami Gory providing an attacking option from the wing as Abha look to produce a major upset.
